Mt. Vernon Winery
Mt Vernon Winery is the largest and most award winning Winery in Placer County; offering 16 to 18 different wines for tasting. The elegant and inviting "Tasting Room" is a vintage Milk House that was built in the 1950's. People often comment that our winery reminds them of a Thomas Kincaid painting. We often host gorgeous weddings in our beautiful Mt Vernon Gardens.
Take the time during your visit to enjoy a glass or even a bottle of wine with your friends on the estate grounds. The winery has beautiful areas that overlook the vineyards with big red umbrellas, humming bird feeders, roses, flowers and trees to delight your senses.
We are the only winery in the world with exclusive rights from Dr. Ernie Bodai to wear the Breast Cancer Stamp on their bottle of wine, and have just recently released the new "Global Journey" wine label to show support for Dr. Bodai's efforts to place the postage stamp in 17 more countries. We have two Global Journey wines available; Chardonnay and Syrah. With every purchase of these special wines, 12.5% of the proceeds go towards finding a cure for Breast Cancer.
Mt Vernon Winery has garnered over 230 medals in three of the world's largest competitions over the last fourteen years.
Mt Vernon Winery hosts lavish Wine Cave Dinners here at the winery. The evening is spent in a candle lit cave enjoying our sumptuous wines hand selected by our winemaker and paired with a wonderful five to six course menu that our premier Chef prepares for these elegant evenings. These are memorable events that our guests thoroughly enjoy.
The wines – Well they speak for themselves not just with the awards we have won, but with the aroma and flavor. The whites are very aromatic. The reds are big, bold and full of flavor. They offer an extreme amount of finish. We handcraft two ports (one of them is a white port) a semi sweet zinfandel. You normally don't see a small 5000 case winery with so many exceptional wines to choose from. Almost all of our 16 plus wines have won some kind of an award at one of the big three wine competitions in the United States.
However; the best award is actually an award from the readers of the Auburn Journal, voting us "Best of the Best" for nine years in a row. To these folks and our very loyal wine club members we would like to say thank you!!!
Mt Vernon Black Label "Reserve" wines will raise the bar for quality. According to Ryan Taylor, this new reserve line up is very limited but extremely high quality. These wines will only be released when they are ready to drink. Don't ask for them in the stores and restaurants as they will be sold only to our wine club members through the tasting room.
